The 2025–26 Hastings Yacht Club Sailability Program will commenced in October, 2025. We run our program fortnightly to coincide with the high tide levels in our bay. We welcome all clients between 10–10:30am on the day and sail until about 12:30pm. We also have a pleasure boat in which we take clients for trips around our bay. The program is free to clients, being supported by our club, and all equipment, including life jackets and safety equipment, is provided by us. We also have a hoist to lift wheelchair bound clients into our boats.
The next session will be on Thursday 5th March, BOM willing. and fortnightly thereafter until Thursday 9th April and thereafter by request.
The Hastings Yacht Club (HYC) Sailability Program is coordinated by Graham Jenkin with the assistance of dedicated HYC volunteers. The program allows people who normally would not be able to sail to enjoy the pleasures of sailing. The Program is affiliated with Sailability Victoria, accommodates all people with a disability and is inclusive of all ages. Full wheelchair access is available.
Safety is a number one priority with an experienced volunteer sailor accompanying a client in each sailboat and a patrol boat always on hand if assistance is required. All safety equipment, including life jackets are supplied.
The Sailability Program offers a chance for participants to get on the water and have a sail in our purpose built “Hansa Sailability Sailboats” or, for those who do not wish to sail, we offer trips around the bay in our motorboat in a safe and controlled environment. The program is free to clients and is supported by Hastings Yacht Club and local clubs and organisations.
